FAN STORY | OKKU returns to Valencia
The president of the Penya VCF Nippon visits Valencia
Taka Okuyama, better known as Okku, is the founder and president of Penya VCF Nippon and a great Valencianista fan who, from Japan, never misses a Valencia CF match. He watches games from home and, when he can, makes trips to Spain to watch his team in person.
“I have come over from Japan more than 10 times. It's a unique experience. Valencia CF are the best club in the world. I have been a soccer fan since Japan participated in a World Cup for the first time, in 1998, and I fell in love with Piojo López and became a Valencia CF fan,” he said at Mestalla on his latest trip, taking in the game against Alavés.
Since 2018, he has run the Peña together with 77 Japanese Valencianistas. They gather to watch matches in their homeland.
“I am very happy to have been able to see the players and talk to them. They are all incredible. I like Gayà, he is a canterano, captain and heart of Valencia CF. The players represent the passion for the Club. I always get very excited. When Valencia CF scores, I always cry,” Okku said.
His visit to Valencia this time around included meeting the players before the game, and watching matches involving VCF Mestalla and VCF Femenino at the Estadio Antonio Puchades.
